CONTEST...
Who would like to win an autographed copy of my new book Angels of the Mourning Light when it is released?
I don't know if this will be a hardcover or a trade paperback, but it will be my new book and there are many people anticipating what happens next in my Scarabae Saga.
Everyone knows about the arson fire that destroyed my home and nearly me on 25 May 2008. I've been back home now for about 3 1/2 weeks, still drywalling and painting and such, and there is still a lot to do.
Let me tell you about what I am doing: My formal living room will be green and purple with black and white; my formal dining room will be teal, burgundy, and gold; my downstairs bath will be in shades of brown and tiger; my sitting room will be shades of brown with burgundy, green, and blue accents; my kitchen will be shades of brown with burgundy and red accents, and my bedroom will be a deep, dark red and brown (sexy, I know.)
This contest is simple: I need help choosing a color for the stairway that is off my dining room to the second floor and the adjoinging hallway upstairs. I've told you about some of the rooms in my house and now I want you to help me choose a color for my stairway and hallway, and you must also tell me why you suggest this color or colors.
You have until 31 May 2009 to post your suggestion and explanation. I will pick a winner and announce the color for my stairway and hallway on Lesa's BlogTalkRadio show The Odd Mind on 4 June 2008 during my interview.
I will contact the winner for his or her address and then I will mail them the autographed copy of Angels of the Mourning Light as soon as it is released.
Sound like fun?

I think you could use a brown thats between caramel brown and milk chocolate brown like behr's bronze green. with gold or red accent colors. why? they would fit into your color scheme as a whole. and the brown would remind me of entering an old mansion's corridor. aged, but loved.

That's a great suggestion and a great explanation as to why I should ue those colors. Thank you.

I think you need to go with a gold for several reasons:
1. it will brighten up the stairway but still be a rich color (ruve dark rich tones)
2. it will create a good flow from the dinning room and maintain the formal elegance.
3. If you pick me to be the winner, I will make you a portrait art piece for that hall and/or dinning room. It will look like either a painting, an awesome photo, or a relief. You would get to choose.
Yes, I am bribing you. I want it signed "To the lady who exploits my sensual side." Or something to that effect. LOL

Bribery works wonders. I love the idea of gold, and I love the idea of artwork in the stairwell.
