Wednesday 21 April 2010: TV Shows & Tulips and a Check-up for the Kitty...

Good evening, faithful friends.

I've been watching television and I gotta admit I am not so much thrilled with the viewing.

A show I have enjoyed for two previous seasons debuted season 3 and I am less than thrilled. In Plain Sight, a great USA Network show about WitSec--federal marshalls--has beed retooled and the show has suffered for it. Not only have key members of the supporting cast been eliminated--and I have learned the creator and main writer has left the show--the dark humor that defined the show has been removed. All this in favor of greater drama. Didn't work.

And let's chat about V. 8 episodes into a 9 episode season, and the show is moving slower than cooling lava in the arctic. I understand the concept of suspense and revealing things slowly to keep the reader or viewer in suspense, see I told you I understood. But wow. The show is too slow in revealing secrets. We need to care about what is going to happen. This is a show with a definite shelf-life. We know going into it, it probably won't last more than a few seasons. They need to start getting us intrigued if they expect to keep us. I, for one, am done with the show. I remember the original two miniseries and the shortlived series. This new reimagining pales in comparison.

But on a brighter note, Spring has arrived. Tulips are blooming all over my backyard. This means warm weather is here; I can start opening windows. I've been able to start working on my house rebuild again. I painted some in my office, and it is almost done. I have to polyurethene the hardwood floor and it will be done. I have to sand, stain, and poly the living and dining rooms, too, as well as my bedroom. Things are getting done. 28 May 2010 marks the two year anniversary of the arson fire. I think another year or two and I should have it all in place and working well.

Maybe this will be the year I get out into my little backyard and whip it into shape. The flowers are blooming but I need to clean up more of the crap I tore out of the house while working on it last summer. Once it's gone, the yard will be a garden again.

My black cat Baylor had his two-week check up yesterday. He responded to the original steroid shot and the two week course of antibiotics. So the vet gave him another steroid shot and scheduled us for another check-up in two more weeks. Things are looking good. The little guy should be able to go on a steroid regime of a dose every few weeks to keep the painful gingivitis in check. Thank you to everyone who sent emails and messages.

Okay, that pretty much sums it up.

Until next time...

Nighty-nightmares.
