24 January 2012: Venetian Carnevale & Steampunk...
Welcome back into my lair.
As you probably know if you know me, I am obsessed with the masks and costumes of the masquerades during Venetian Carnevale (Carnevale di Venezia.) A friend from the past has contacted me and we are discussing making me a masquerade costume of my own. They can be very expensive if you bought one, sometimes a few thousand dollars. We're working on a design for the robe and head piece. She makes the most awesome period costumes for re-enactments. I'll be telling you all about my friend in the future, once we get more details.
And I have discovered Steampunk. Now I knew a little about it because I love the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen movie, but I didn't put it together that it was in the Steampunk genre. So my friend who is a whiz at the sewing and I have talked about making me a coat or two in the Steampunk style. Now of course it will be my interpretation of it, so you know it will have dark red and black, with maybe some tiger print in there.
Also, I have found another pair of Demonia vegan boots I love and have to have. I already own one pair that are calf-high with probably three inch souls. The new pair are knee-high with nine buckles on each boot. Pretty nifty and can easily work with a Steampunk outfit or even under a Venetian masquerade costume.
I'll give more details when my friend and I have them worked out.
Until then,
Nighty-nightmares...
